FEBUPNVJ – Following up their recent success at the MBS E-Case Competition 2024, A-Company found success at the International Macro Business Simulation Competition 2024 held by the Faculty of Business Administration of Kasetsart University and Top Boss in Bangkok, Thailand. The team consisted of Rafa Daniswara Harimurty (NIM 2310112093, Program Sarjana Akuntansi), Salsabila Putri Nur’aini (NIM 2210115038, Program Sarjana Ekonomi Pembangunan), and Ahmad Syaugi (NIM 2210111149, Program Sarjana Manajemen).
This competition served as a follow up from the past MBS E-Case Competition 2024 that was held in Indonesia by Universitas Indonesia, where we were invited by the organisers to participate and attend the International MBS Competition 2024 in Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand. A-Company represented Indonesia and UPN “Veteran” Jakarta on the international stage against other competitors from 11 different countries (China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Myanmar, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, the Netherlands, and Vietnam) consisting of 27 different universities and more than 300 participants.
The competition consists of five stages, starting with the workshop stage where participants will attend a total of 4 online workshops with the aim of becoming familiar with the system used and strategies that can be incorporated on the actual competition day, which was divided into 2 days. The preliminary round was held on the 7th of September, which was aimed to find the top 18 teams from the 6 groups to set-up for the semi-final round. On the 8th of September, the avenger round was held to find the next 12 teams to advance to the semi-finals by grouping all the teams that failed to qualify in the preliminary round into 4 groups. Afterwards the semi-final was held and consisted of the top 30 teams, where the top 8 would advance into the final round to present their strategy and thought process behind their ideas and decision making.
A-Company managed to go all the way up to 5th place and was awarded 4th runners-up, but they went and faced struggles and difficulties along the way. They failed to qualify in the preliminary rounds by finishing 4th in their group, which meant they had to qualify through the avenger round. The avenger round kicked off to a great start and A-Company managed to qualify to the semi-finals, where they finished 4th and advance all the way to the finals where they were given 30 minutes to prepare their presentation and present in a panel of 4 judges from Top Boss, the dean of the faculty of business and administration of Kasetsart University, and a financial strategist from the industry.
“I feel incredibly honored to able to be here, and of course being invited by them in the first place. I feel proud to be able to represent Indonesia and UPN “Veteran” Jakarta in the International space and achieve success. I hope that UPN “Veteran” Jakarta can always accommodate and provide wider opportunities for its students in international events and competitions.”, said Rafa, the team captain of A-Company.
Their success proves that there is more to achieve and win, even on the international scale when people can collaborate and work together, and bring more success to UPN “Veteran” Jakarta.
